Arnada Abbey is an Anglican missional church in the Vancouver, Washington neighborhood. They take an ancient-future approach to their faith and community living practices. Their emphasis on social kindness includes giving residence to those with housing needs in various buildings, running an electric bike company called Eco Mopeds, and offering assistance to those in who need it.
I developed a WordPress based site for the Abbey. Visually, their site has a very contrasted, color-popping scheme in addition to highly detailed graphic features. Every last arrow, button, background and icon is very stylized to fit the branded aesthetic that I created for the site. It has an aged, nearly rustic look that is brought to life in a clean, modern structure. There are many elements of historical Christian icons that I was able to tie into the design, as well as black-and-white imagery and custom designed featured graphics. The header incorporates an image slider that is linked to the key information pages on the site. When the navigation links are hovered over, a line appears over the highlighted section to give it a subtle emphasis. The front page itself is organized into a grid layout with each section using both uniform and contrasting colors to really make each item stand out. The content is set up to easily be updated by the Abbey in a modified WordPress setting.
